Instrumenty Pleyela były bardzo cenione przez Chopina; prezentowany instrument został zbudowany, co prawda, krótko po śmierci wielkiego kompozytora, niemniej pod względem konstrukcyjnym doskonale odpowiada instrumentom, z którymi Chopin miał do czynienia pod koniec życia.

In the sales book, the instrument is recorded under the date of 29 July 1856 as a rosewood grand piano. The lack of information about the recipient and price indicates that the instrument was intended to remain with the company (inventory number 185), which may testify to its exceptional sound qualities! Interestingly, four neighbouring instruments were delivered to Carl Hass, a music dealer in Odessa.

Pleyel instruments were highly valued by Chopin; although the instrument presented here was built shortly after the great composer’s death, in terms of construction it perfectly matches the instruments with which Chopin had worked at the end of his life.
